Bar La Grassa: Cold Meat Plate

Cold Meat Plate: I think the picture speaks for itself. Two massive pieces of porchetta, two large pieces of mortadella, head cheese and a large slice of chicken galantine. Two people could eat this alone and call it a meal (given the large amount of fat involved). It should probably be ordered as a starter for a group of 8, but our waitress did not caution otherwise. All of this is made in-house; the porchetta and head cheese were quite good, the mortadella and galantine were nothing to write home about; and texturally there was not enough contrast–at least one mousse-like thing would have been appropriate. The cherry mostarda and the cornichons were very good–I could have used some more bite on the mustard to cut the unctuousness of the meat. We ate some and brought the rest home.
