Steamed Chicken in Special Taste Sauce. This, I suspected, might be a version of one of my favourite dishes and so it proved to be. It was tasty but rang further warning bells as a) the sauce was a little too sweet and b) the chicken was off the bone and devoid of skin and cartilage.
At this point we figured that this place was just okay and probably adapting everything to Minnesota palates/preferences (nothing wrong with that per se). However, the mains proved us absolutely wrong. And it was also a good sign that they asked us if we wanted bowls in place of plates (my chopstick skills are pretty good but rice is not meant to be eaten off flat plates with chopsticks).
