December was sherried whisky month on the blog; January will feature un-sherried whiskies of various kinds. I have a gigantic backlog of samples to get through and so you should expect to see a lot of ratty pictures of sample bottles. December was also when I began to feature cooking posts in a big way. I know that this tested the patience of some of my regular readership, but you’ll just have to put up with it, I’m afraid. I’ll probably do an all-recipes week once every 4-6 weeks or so, and there’ll also be regular restaurant reviews. On the latter front, there will be a number of reviews this month of meals from our end-of-year trip to Los Angeles (which ends today). If I can get around to it I may also have my year-end music list at some point, but it’s more likely that that will show up in February.

I saw that. A maximum of 29ºF for our first day back and then, wham, a maximum of 0ºF on Sunday. Whisky should help.

Bladnoch and Clynelish are favorites of mine, so of course that’s what I want you to review. But what you should review is the less marquee stuff, like the Deanston and Glen Spey. Actually, I’d like to see a review of the Caoran–I had the first edition years ago, and thought it was awful. I guess they’ve tweaked it some since.

You’ll be pleased to know that the Bladnoch and the Deanston are already lined up. Not sure if the samples I bought from Whiskybase of the Glenfiddich Caoran are of a recent bottling—I’ll look into it before doing the review.
