Whoops—I forgot to hit “publish” on this! I apologize for ruining your weekend—I imagine you spent all day, Sunday wondering if I was going to be posting anything on the blog this month and weeping uncontrollably at the thought that I might not. Don’t worry, I am. And here’s what you can expect.
On the booze front, odds are good that there will be very little whisky reviewed this month, and quite possible no single malt whisky. I’m going to start off with a week of brandy and then move to a week of mezcal (and there might be another week of mezcal before the month is out—possibly even a third!). Having finished a number of open bottles recently, I will be opening a few bottles of single malt from my stores this month but I’m more likely to post reviews of a few very old single grain whiskies. If there are any single malt reviews it’ll probably be a themed week of wine cask Edradours. If this prospect entices or revolts you, let me know in the comments.
And, oh yes, the food reports from the summer will continue. I have another 6-7 reviews to come from Italy in July, and about as many from Ireland in July and August. I had been hoping a couple more of those out this past week and weekend but I was run ragged by work, and that situation is not likely to let up any time soon. My guess is I won’t be done with those reports till the end of November. Especially since the missus and I are going to be in New York for a couple of days in a few weeks and there’ll probably be restaurant reports from that short trip as well.
Anyway, you can expect the usual three booze reviews a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and a Twin Cities food report on Tuesdays. Trip reports will show up on Thursdays and the weekend when I’m able to get them out. And as for cooking, I invite you again to follow me on Instagram if you don’t already.
Phew. My month has been saved!
If you will be in New York City, it would be interesting to get your view on takeout from a bodega. Pick one. Any one. On the other hand, if you’ve already reserved spots elsewhere, please carry on.
