Now that I’m done looking back, let’s do the customary look ahead. This month is a little bit up in the air. I am in Los Angeles and will soon be leaving for Delhi and will return via Hong Kong. I have a number of whisky reviews all ready to go but the odds are good that this month will upset further the subset of my whisky readership that already thinks there’s too much food content on this blog. There’s L.A. eating in progress, there’ll be more eating in Delhi, and there will probably be an unfeasible amount of eating crammed into a few days in Hong Kong. I might even do a couple of recipe posts involving other people cooking in Delhi. And it’s quite likely that I’ll bump some of the already completed whisky reviews in favour of these restaurant/cooking posts. During and after my last trips to Los Angeles and Delhi I stuck to my normal schedule of three whisky reviews and two food posts per week and this resulted in some of those food posts showing up months after the trip when I had all but forgotten about the experience itself.
But there’s more bad news for those who wish this blog would just focus on whisky. I’ll likely dilute the whisky content even more this year by venturing further into things I’ve done only occasionally in the past: articles on books and film; in particular Indian fiction and film (Bollywood and beyond). These are subjects that I am actually qualified to talk about and it should be fun (hopefully) to do it in a non-academic context; fun for me, I mean—you may feel differently.
And now, on to the whisky reviews list! It is a small list this month and it is of already completed reviews of which 8-10 will probably be posted. As always, I’ll invite you to nominate the ones you want to see for sure; it’s quite likely though that the reviews of the four Signatory exclusives for K&L will all be published. I’m hoping this will finally be the month that David Driscoll quotes me approvingly in a K&L email blast—I’ve been trying so hard all these years to make it in there!
