After boffo numbers to close 2024 and open 2025, both page views and unique visitor counts were down in April. This is a normal pattern. I don’t claim to understand why but traffic is always lower than normal in April and November in most years. I also didn’t post as much as I was planning to in April. Not only did I not complete all my food reports from my trip to Delhi in March, I did not have a Twin Cities restaurant report last week. This is because, as I said yesterday, I have been extremely busy, not just with the regular school term but with early preparation for the second run of my Bombay-Seoul off-campus program, which will visit both cities next year. Anyway, May should be a little less frenzied on all fronts. You can expect the usual booze reviews on Mondays—in May these will all be whisky reviews—and food reports on Wednesdays (for the Twin Cities) and the weekends (for my remaining Delhi reports). As for cooking and recipes, you’ll have to continue looking to my Instagram account.
And if you are interested, here is a quick look at what was most popular on the blog in April.
- Indri-Trini, The Three Wood
- In and Around Mangwon Market (Seoul, March 2024)
- Eating at Mercato Centrale (Florence, June 2023)
- Bukhara (Delhi, March 2022)
- At Namdaemun Market, Pt. 2: Eating (Seoul, March 2023)
- Eating at Noryangjin Fish Market (Seoul, Feb/March 2024)
- Eating at Namdaemun Market’s Hairtail Alley (Seoul, February 2024)
- Trattoria Monti (Rome, June 2023)
- Lunch at the Kalguksu Alley in Namdaemun Market (Seoul, March 2023)
- Soul Dining (Seoul, March 2024)
Interest in the Indri-Trini went up again last month—though not to the levels of when the controversy around the brand’s owner was raging hottest in January and February. All in all, it was a top 10 list of the usual suspects in slightly different order. Just outside the top 10 were my reviews of Mingles in Seoul (there was more interest last month in my review of Soul Dining with its single Michelin star) and a few Twin Cities restaurants: my most recent reviews of Grand Szechuan and Krungthep Thai and also my review from a few years ago of Myriel (a recent Beard Award finalist). We’ll be back at Myriel this weekend, as it happens. And speaking of recent Twin Cities critical darlings, we’re also scheduled to eat at Bucheron at the end of the month. Beyond that there are no meals set as of yet but there are a number of non-high end places that I’d like to get to.
Alright, that’s all for now.
